Job summary

The University of Chicago's Biological Sciences Division in Chicago, IL seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology team. The role involves direct patient care across well-woman to post-operative settings, with a strong Labor & Delivery component, under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
• Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration; eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the MSO.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct primary health care to patients, in collaboration with consulting physician and the multidisciplinary health team, including identification, management, and referral of health problems.
• Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develop patient care plans within clinical nursing practice and medical care protocols.
• Take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and record findings in the patient's record; screen patients for admission and coordinate referrals.
• Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and effects of procedures to the patient.
• Evaluate outcomes of care and adjust nursing approaches accordingly.
• Participate in development of collaborative practice arrangements.
• Prescribe medications as set forth in the delegation of prescriptive authority and manage treatments.
• Coordinate with nurses, patients, families, physicians and community resources for patient care.
