Job summary

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN seeks an Anesthesia Nocturnist focused on obstetric anesthesia to join the anesthesia care team. This overnight role supports the Labor and Delivery unit with expert coverage for epidurals, spinals, C-sections and OB consultations.

You will work 7pm to 7am, with a 1 week on / 2 weeks off schedule, and have opportunities for daytime moonlighting off weeks.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree and Indiana medical license eligibility.
• Experience in obstetric anesthesia preferred.
• Ability to provide overnight coverage in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight obstetric anesthesia coverage.
• Manage 3–5 procedures per shift: labor epidurals, spinals, C-sections, OB consultations, epidural blood patch consultations.
• Coverage of rare emergency airway (primarily handled by 24/7 in-house intensivists).
• Collaborate with obstetricians, CRNAs/CAAs, nurses and support staff.
• Participate in call responsibilities aligned with nocturnist scheduling.
• Shift: 7pm–7am, Night OB Anesthesia Coverage.
• 1 Week On / 2 Weeks Off.
• General anesthesia call shifts and daytime moonlighting shifts available for extra earning potential.
