Description

Position: Pre-Op/PACU RN

Position Summary: Provides nursing care to surgical patients during preoperative and postoperative phases, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Delivers safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, individualized, and goal-directed care to patients and families in the immediate post-anesthetic period, promoting physiological stability and adaptation to surgical experiences. Supports the center’s policies, procedures, and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment: Evaluate physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs; interpret diagnostic measures; review patient charts; consult with peri-operative nurses.
  • Planning: Ensure a safe, efficient environment; identify and resolve problems; communicate goals; provide discharge instructions and follow-up contact information.
  • Implementation: Execute nursing care plans; utilize resources efficiently; adhere to infection control; document accurately; apply professional judgment; handle equipment safely.
  • Evaluation: Review care outcomes; modify interventions as needed; pursue professional growth.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Maintain effective communication; foster teamwork; demonstrate a caring attitude; seek guidance when necessary; communicate clearly.
  • Accountability: Engage in learning; demonstrate competence; uphold confidentiality; act as patient advocate; ensure safety; know equipment and emergency protocols; comply with HIPAA; report incidents.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Critical Care experience preferred
  • Current RN license, BLS & ACLS certifications
  • Proficient in English, verbal and written
  • Willing to advocate for patients throughout surgical phases
  • Flexible to meet surgical schedule demands, including overtime
  • Assist in the OR as needed
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds; obtain assistance when moving patients; assist with patient transport
