Job summary

Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) is seeking a financial accounting professional to support HMSA and its subsidiaries from a hybrid on-Oahu role. The position focuses on monthly closings, accruals, and balanced ledger maintenance, with collaboration across F&A and other departments.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree with three years of related experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and three years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to properly record financial transactions and prepare financial statements.
• Strong oral and written presentation skills for Executive staff.
• Ability to prepare financial analyses and reports.
• Strong project management and coordination of complex tasks.

Responsibilities

• Record and report various financial transactions for HMSA and subsidiaries monthly.
• Prepare and post accruals for general ledger accounts; develop estimates as needed.
• Analyze contracts and programs; support audits and provide research assistance.
• Back up recording transactions and preparing financial statements for HMSA subsidiaries.
• Maintain schedules and ledgers for general ledger accounts (assets, prepaid amortization, lease liability).
• Create ad-hoc system reports and investigate discrepancies; support other analysts.
