Position Overview

The Solar O&M Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal system functionality and uptime.

Key Position Responsibilities Include

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of solar PV systems, inverters, and associated electrical equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and communication system issues
  • Document service activities, site conditions, and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE usage
  • Conduct infrared thermography, IV curve tracing, and insulation resistance testing
  • Assist with warranty claims and manage spare parts inventory
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and participate in on-call rotations

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in solar O&M or a similar electrical maintenance field
  • Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E safety standards
  • Experience with string inverters, central inverters, and data acquisition systems
  • Familiarity with single axis trackers
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license

Education

  • High school diploma or technical certification in electrical or renewable energy disciplines

  • The Solar O&M Technician position is based in Syracuse NY with 80% travel within NY

Compensation

  • GSPP offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
  • O&M Technician annual salary range based on skills and experience: $70k - $100k
