Job description

  • Works closely with clients to develop employment plans that fit individual client aptitude, education level, physical ability and career goals.
  • Works closely with the Social Service Manager to generate appropriate employment opportunities for clients.
  • Assists clients with employment-related issues including development of resumes, cover letters, completion of job applications, and developing interviewing techniques.
  • Provides counseling to clients and provides support and feedback on workplace issues.
  • Conducts field work including but not limited to accompanying clients to job interviews.
  • Maintains and submits all necessary documents and reports as required by SCO and regulatory body.
  • Attends staff meetings, trainings, and supervisory sessions, as required.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community services and resources.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly listening, mediation, and writing skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to meet a demanding workload.
  • Detail oriented to complete requirements of files and contract compliance.
  • Creative thinker/adaptive personality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources, social service agencies.
  • Fluency in the English language is required. Spanish speaking ability is an added asset, but is not required.
  • Experience with computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of population served.
  • The ability to establish and set appropriate limits with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers or professionals.
  • The capacity to maintain a role to empower clients and to intervene appropriately to meet service goals.
  • Document all form of client contact in DHS client management systems (CARES)
  • Participate in and plan for emergency backup and coverage
  • Participate in CQI activities
  • Required to drive agency vehicles and/or must use mass transit to escort client to appointments
  • Required to work 1 late night and weekends

Qualifications

  • BA required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Be flexible -, includes attendance, punctuality and occasional work outside of normal business hours.
  • Experience in employment programs a must.
