Job description

The Radiology Technician is responsible for providing services at on-site clinic health units or events to support NYCHH contracts for rapid deployments in emergency and disaster efforts. This is a temporary position, with duration based on operational needs and client requirements. The position reports to the Site Lead at the on-site clinic health unit.

Location: New York City

**Out of state licenses currently accepted.***

Travel, lodging, and per diem allowances will be provided in accordance with GSA guidelines.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide radiology services to maintain the health of employees and client personnel.
  2. Assist Radiographers in performing x-ray procedures.
  3. Perform routine procedures requiring specialized expertise.
  4. Prepare radiological area, equipment, contrast materials, and supplies.
  5. Assist Radiologists and other healthcare professionals in diagnostic or treatment procedures.
  6. Perform diagnostic testing and equipment maintenance.
  7. Prepare patients for procedures and develop radiographs.
  8. Monitor patient and equipment condition during procedures and report changes.
  9. Perform imaging examinations such as X-rays, CT, MRI, mammography, and ultrasound.
  10. Document patient care services accurately.
  11. Position patients, adjust equipment, and set exposure factors for radiological procedures.
  12. Reduce patient anxiety by providing explanations and answering questions.
  13. Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure.
  14. Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, and respond to drug reactions appropriately.
  15. Maintain quality and production standards in radiography.
  16. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of radiology equipment.
  17. Manage supplies and inventory effectively.
  18. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  19. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved Radiology Technician program leading to a Diploma, Certificate, or Associate's degree.
  • Two years of experience as a Radiology Technician.
  • Valid license and current registration as a Radiological Technologist in New York.
  • CPR certification.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and MS Office.
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work in remote, austere, or challenging environments.
  • Capability to perform duties in stressful, high-paced settings without physical limitations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to operational changes and shift requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Five years of radiology experience, including ultrasound in a clinical setting.
  • Three years of experience performing CT procedures with contrast.
  • Experience in MRI procedures.
  • Valid NYS DOH license and registration as a Radiological Technologist.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Bending, stooping, and lifting as needed for patient care and transport.
