Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking a compassionate Med-Surg RN in New York City to provide comprehensive care for adult patients before, during, and after surgery. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to create individualized care plans and promote recovery.

The ideal candidate holds a NY RN license, has at least 1 year of medical-surgical experience, strong assessment and communication skills, and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted New York State RN license.
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Strong understanding of adult medical-surgical conditions.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, provide wound care, and perform other nursing interventions.
• Monitor vital signs, document patient care thoroughly, and collaborate with the health care team.
• Educate patients and families about their condition, treatment plan, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
