NYC Matrimonial Associate Attorney – Divorce & Family Law Litigation

Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY (Hybrid: In-Office & Virtual)

Our firm is dedicated to helping families navigate divorce amicably when possible and vigorously advocating for our clients in court when necessary.

Who We Are Looking For

We seek a licensed and New York bar-admitted attorney with experience in family and matrimonial law with a minimum of 3-5 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in motion practice, court appearances, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations. This role is suited for an attorney who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple case files while providing top-tier client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in all aspects of family law litigation, including divorce, child custody, parenting plans, support matters, and equitable distribution.
• Negotiate and draft prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
• Manage cases from inception to resolution, including client intake, discovery, negotiation, motion practice, hearings, and trials.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, affidavits, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy.
• Appear in Supreme Court and Family Court (both in-person and virtually), as required.
• Work collaboratively with the legal team to develop firm policies, systems, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Licensed New York Attorney in good standing with experience in family and matrimonial law.
• Strong legal writing, research, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Negotiate and draft divorce and custody settlement agreements.
• Experienced with drafting prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
• Must have litigation experience including depositions, trial prep, and conducting trials and hearings.
• Familiarity with New York State Supreme and Family Court procedures (NYSCEF/EDDS filing).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
• Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to handle high-conflict situations with professionalism.
