Job summary

CubeSmart is seeking a dedicated Maintenance/Valet to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of our facilities while providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will manage custodial responsibilities, minor repairs, and assist in the safe transport of customer belongings. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in various settings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years custodial, maintenance, or grounds keeping experience required.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 1 year of driving experience.
• Clean driving record as verified via MVR check.

Overview

The Maintenance/Valet role maintains facility and public areas by providing custodial, grounds-keeping, and repair services. The role is also responsible for transporting customer goods from their home to the designated facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintains facility by sweeping hallways, stairs, and storage spaces, including restroom areas
• Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk, mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers
• Maintains buildings, which includes performing minor and routine painting and other related maintenance activities
• Notifies management concerning needs for major repairs
• Maintains building accessibility
• Works to maintain operational continuity between shifts
• Safely transport customer belongings to and from specific locations in a timely manner
• Properly maintain company vehicle with regular cleanings and maintenance
• Ensure that the vehicle and the belongings inside are properly secured at all times
• Report any accidents, injuries, and/or vehicle damage to management immediately
• Regional travel to other facilities as needed

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to apply common sense and logic to solve problems
• Ability to make basic repairs using simple tools and equipment
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting with occasional field work.

Frequent: Squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, climbing up and down a ladder, performing various maintenance duties (i.e. sweeping, painting, replacing light bulbs, and roof inspections); lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting items from one end of a facility to the other end, which averages around 500 feet. Sitting in a vehicle driver’s seat for extended periods of time.

Vision: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
