Position Description: Clinical Assistant Professor or Lecturer

The Clinical Assistant Professor/Lecturer is a full-time, 10-month faculty position focused on teaching undergraduate didactic and clinical nursing courses (at area healthcare centers). The role emphasizes nursing care delivery for diverse populations, including community health, maternal-child, or pediatric groups. Key relationships include collaboration with faculty and adjunct faculty/preceptors involved in clinical education at clinical affiliates. This is a 10-month/year, clinical, non-tenure track position within the School of Nursing, part of the College of Health and Human Services at Indiana University Northwest. The position reports to the Director of the School of Nursing and involves service responsibilities at departmental, campus, and community levels.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Teaching undergraduate/graduate didactic and clinical nursing courses
  • Assisting with curricular development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Mentoring students
  • Participating in community service and shared governance activities
  • Conducting independent and/or collaborative research (required for tenure-track; encouraged for other ranks)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Rank depends on educational background, experience, and preference
  • Current clinical practice experience
  • Knowledge of high-fidelity simulation systems (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard)
  • Familiarity with servers, databases, and web applications (e.g., Microsoft 0365, Python, HTML, WordPress)
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in nursing
  • Licensed in Indiana or eligible for endorsement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or equivalent
  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)
  • DNP or PhD
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience working with diverse populations, focusing on community health, maternal-child, or pediatric groups
