Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nutritionist III for the Pediatrics Department within New Jersey Medical School.

The primary purpose of the Nutritionist III position is to work under the direction of the chief nutritionist or designee, implements the nutrition and breast feeding components of the program. Assesses nutritional needs of participants in the program and provides individual and group nutrition counseling and education in accordance with regulations and guidelines. Collects data and prepares reports required by State and administration. Does outreach to hospital clinics, maternity services and community based organizations.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Certifies and re-certifies applicants in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Collects, organizes an/or interprets nutrition assessment and socio-economic data on individual participants.
  • Develops individual/family nutrition care plans based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources of nutrients.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Nutrition Education Plan.
  • Prepares curriculum for nutrition education classes and conducts regular classes.
  • Evaluates and develops nutrition education literature for distribution to participants.
