Job summary

Catholic Charities of Columbia and Greene Counties is seeking a Qualified Nutritionist to support families through nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, and coordination of WIC services. You will review medical documentation for Food Package III with the Health Care Provider and travel to outreach sites as needed.

You will provide follow-up referrals, lead client-centered sessions (individual or group), and may serve as Nutrition Assistant for NYWIC verification.

• Provide leadership in planning, conducting and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education (individual/family sessions or facilitated group discussions).
• Provide and document appropriate follow-up referrals to other health and social services agencies for participants.
• Will travel to outreach/satellite sites when necessary and assist in loading/unloading the WIC van, and share in driving duties.
• Fills in as a Nutrition Assistant for verification of NYWIC participants.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 credit hours in Nutrition

As the Qualified Nutritionist, you will play a pivotal role in individuals' lives, making a significant impact through:

• Promote breastfeeding as the preferred infant feeding method.
• Review and approve medical documentation forms for Food Package III for participants in consultation with the Health Care Provider.
• Provide leadership in planning, conducting and evaluating participant-centered nutrition education (individual/family sessions or facilitated group discussions) responsive to the identified needs/interests of participants, especially participants whose nutrition or health concerns require an advanced level of nutrition expertise (high risk).
• Provide and document appropriate follow-up referrals to other health and social services agencies for participants, especially participants with whose nutrition or health concerns require an advanced level of nutrition expertise (high risk).
• Will travel to outreach/satellite sites when necessary, assist in loading and unloading the WIC van, and share in driving duties of the WIC van.
• Fills in as a Nutrition Assistant when the need arises, performing categorical, residential and income verification for WIC participants and documents this information in NYWIC.

Qualified Nutritionist Minimum hourly rate: $25.00

Qualified Nutritionist Maximum hourly rate: $26.00

Qualified Nutritionist Schedule: Monday - Friday; 35 hours per week with 1 hour lunch.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 credit hours in Nutrition required
