Nutritional Services Support III (Cook) Full Time

Position Summary

Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, following Nutritional Services policies and procedures. Prepares meals for patients and retail operations using proper production systems. Performs duties in a clean and organized manner. Works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  1. Prepares quality meals accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  2. Complies with state food service sanitation regulations.
  3. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of safety policies and procedures as specified in the department manual.
  4. Assists in enhancing productivity duties as assigned.
  5. Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.
  6. Maintains knowledge of equipment.
  7. Adapts productively to change and handles other essential tasks as assigned.
  8. Demonstrates competency in performing job duties and ongoing skills development.
Accountability

Reports to: Director of Nutritional Services, South Campus.
Supervises: None.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of healthcare institutional cooking preferred.
Physical Demands

Must handle behavioral issues of patients and visitors under stressful situations. Requires constant standing/walking, smelling, hearing, color vision, and lifting 20-30 pounds. Frequently involves twisting, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping. Occasional use of arm and back muscles for lifting and power equipment.

  • Strength: Heavy (exerting 20-30 pounds occasionally).
  • Standing/Walking: Constantly.
  • Keyboard/Dexterity: Occasionally.
  • Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Seeing and Hearing: Yes.
Environmental Conditions

High exposure to hazards including infections, blood, body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Occasional exposure to noise, heat, and cold. Some risk of cuts and burns. Follow all safety procedures and standard precautions. May require work on weekends, flexible schedules, and travel.
