Qualifications

Join to apply for the Nutritional Feeding Technician role at Akron Children's

Calculates, prepares, delivers, and monitors specialized infant formulas, modulated infant or pediatric formulas, human milk, tube feedings, and medical nutrition supplements. Responds to room service calls, processes diet orders, and takes patient and family food selections for meals; assists in selecting appropriate foods based on diet and age. Ensures compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations established by regulatory agencies and Akron Children’s Hospital. Performs inventory management, operates feeding preparation equipment, maintains sanitation in feeding preparation areas, participates in quality improvement activities, completes temperature and sanitization records, and communicates effectively through various telecommunication modes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers patient feedings according to recipes, RD/RDN instructions, and established protocols.
• Uses clinical information systems (including EHR) to update patient orders, print labels, and generate production lists.
• Communicates effectively with dietetic and medical teams regarding feeding orders, storage, and administration issues.
• Maintains sanitation in preparation and storage areas, ensuring supplies and equipment are sanitized. Prepares feedings using aseptic techniques.
• Assists with inventory management in preparation and patient care areas.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
• May handle room service calls, process diet orders, and assist with food selections.
• Performs other duties as required.

Other Information

Technical Experience

• Proficiency in math and computation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with HER software is a plus.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field is preferred.
• Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) certification is preferred.
• ServSafe certification is preferred.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
