Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward serving the elderly.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Previous cooking experience is preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and food safety standards.
• Review production sheets and resident diet orders to ensure accuracy.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
• Monitor food temperatures and follow all state, federal, and facility food safety regulations.
• Assist with meal service as needed and work collaboratively with the dietary team.
• Follow all infection prevention, sanitation, Universal Precautions, and workplace safety procedures.
