Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Cook/Assistant Chef role is to ensure patient meals are prepared, cooked, and served according to authorized menus in a timely manner. All meals must be prepared in a sanitized environment, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications
  • Current state Food Manager Certificate
  • Experience in quality food preparation in a healthcare or long-term care setting is preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
Essential Functions
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of food items according to scheduled menus
  • Follow food production schedules and minimize waste
  • Label, date, and store leftovers properly
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas
  • Prepare special meals, snacks, and supplements as directed
  • Identify and correct safety hazards in food service areas
  • Assist in inventory management and notify supervisors of shortages
  • Ensure compliance with food safety policies and standards
  • Record temperatures of food storage units
  • Assist in training and supervising staff when assigned
  • Ensure food presentation is attractive and meets quality standards
  • Standardize recipes and maintain portion control
  • Manage food supplies and storage properly
  • Prepare tray cards and assist with other duties as assigned
