Job Title: Nutrition Worker

Department: Nutrition Services

Pay Grade: U040

Work Calendar: Service 176 Day

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position exists to enhance student learning by providing high quality and nutritious meals with outstanding customer service.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen Responsibilities

Assists in food preparation and service to students and school employees.
Reads and follows standardized recipes
Participates in the cleaning and sanitizing of all areas of the kitchen.
Operates dishwasher, mixer, convection ovens, steamers, and other kitchen equipment.
Operates cash register, makes change, and interacts with students and staff with professionalism.
Cleans, dices, chops, and portions vegetables and fruits.
Prepares meats, entrees, and mixes ingredients using specific utensils.
Follows all local and state food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Assists in the receipts and proper storage of all kitchen deliveries.

Support and demonstrate core values of Nutrition Services

Maintains a clean and neat appearance.
Must adhere to departmental Dress Code and Uniform practices
Adheres to guidelines of confidentiality as outlined in federal and state laws and School Board Policies and Procedures.
Maintains a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
Serves as an optimal role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
Works in close harmony with colleagues, supervisors, and co-workers.
Complies with all district and school policies and regulations.
Completes federally mandated professional development activities annually.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
No experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
Ability to use oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage.
Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility.

Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and other school staff.
Ability to complete basic math calculations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
The work is medium work, which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: feeling, grasping, handling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity and walking.
