Job summary

School District 27J in Colorado is seeking a food service assistant to support meal preparation and safe serving in a school environment. You will help follow standardized recipes and maintain sanitary work areas, equipment, and documentation.

The position is part-time, 2–6 hours per day, 154 days per year, with no benefits. Starting pay is $18.58 per hour, and the role requires basic math, reliable communication, and the ability to work with children.

Qualifications

• Two years of high school, vocational school, or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Basic math, interpersonal, and communications skills.
• Ability to deal with children and children with special needs.
• Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing meals following instructions on standardized recipes, including operating various types of institutional equipment used in food preparation or cleaning and complying with federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitation and child nutrition programs.
• Portion food correctly to meet federal, state, and local guidelines.
• Wash trays, utensils, dishes, pans, etc. used in food preparation or service.
• Mop, sweep, and clean kitchen work area, equipment, and other facilities as required.

SALARY: Classified, Grade H, starting at $18.58 per hour, depending on recent relevant experience. 2-6 hours per day, Monday through Friday. 154 day / 9 month work schedule. Position is not eligible for benefits.
