Job summary

Columbia Public Schools in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Lead Night Custodian for Battle High School. The role oversees nightly cleaning, trains staff, and ensures the building is secure after hours. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m., with a 30-minute lunch break.

Ideal candidates will have custodial experience and be able to manage cleaning operations and event setups. The position reports to the Director of Custodial and area supervisors.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• One year custodial experience with CPS or equivalent.
• Knowledge of carpet, tile and concrete floor maintenance.
• Knowledge of restrooms, shower and locker room cleaning and maintenance.
• Knowledge of cleaning agents and materials.
• General knowledge of cleaning and servicing custodial equipment.
• General knowledge of heating and air conditioning units.
• Must be able to bend, twist, squat, climb and lift 50–60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Act as working supervisor of a cleaning crew.
• Limit interactions with office personnel and building users.
• Ensure security of the building.
• Assist with monitoring and operating heating and air conditioning systems.
• Set up and take down for school functions and special events.
• Perform tasks to keep buildings open, comfortable and safe.

Purpose: This position is responsible for inspecting the cleaning performance of nightly duties, supervises and leads custodial employees on setting up for special events or special cleaning projects. This position trains new and existing employees regularly and also secures the building at night. This position is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m.-12:30 a.m., 30 minute Lunch Break

Qualifications

Physical Demands: Is regularly required to stand, move about, hear and speak; Must have close, moderate, and distance vision ability; Must continuously use hand and finger strength to grasp tools and climb ladders; Must be able to communicate in noisy environments such as construction sites and over machine noise; Must be able to frequently stoop, squat, reach, climb, bend, kneel, and push/pull objects such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines; Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis

Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position; The person holding this position must be available for emergency clean up or maintenance of building or area(s) outside of regular work hours.
