Job summary

Nutrition Services Culinary Relief Manager is based at Chatfield Elementary within Mesa County Valley School District 51. The role involves preparing scratch meals, serving students, ensuring food safety, and supporting culinary management.

It is a non-exempt, wage-based position with incentives including hourly wage increases and bonuses. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least one year of food service experience, and English proficiency; Serve Safe certification within 90 days

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of prior food service experience required.
• Prior culinary and/or school nutrition services experience preferred.
• Conversational English skills required.

Responsibilities

• Scratch Meal Production: prepare daily meals from scratch following district recipes and records.
• Meal Service and Customer Experience: serve meals meeting USDA standards and district policies; maintain signage and presentation.
• Food Safety and Compliance: follow HACCP standards; ensure compliance with USDA/State regulations.
• Sanitation and Cleaning: daily cleaning tasks; maintain equipment and sanitation.
• Financial Accountability and POS: operate POS system, handle cash and daily reports.
• Inventory and Ordering: assist with ordering, receiving and storing food and supplies; maintain records.
• Cross-Training and Culinary Manager Support: rotate through stations; assist with staff scheduling and supervision.
