Job summary

The Jefferson City School District is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant Manager to support daily food preparation and meal service for students. You will assist the Nutrition Services Director, supervise kitchen staff, and help ensure safety, quality, and compliance with health codes during breakfast and lunch operations.

This full-time role requires lifting up to 40 lbs, adherence to dress code, and a focus on efficient service while coordinating with school staff to meet program standards

• Competency for responsibilities with prior personnel supervision preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and cater school events.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties assigned by the Food Services Director efficiently.
• Maintain high safety and cleanliness to comply with health codes.
• Assign and supervise staff in manager’s absence.
• Attend manager meetings as scheduled by the Food Services Director.
• Verify and sign invoices of food shipments.
• Store all food and supplies properly upon delivery.
• Assist in determining daily food quantities and serving sizes for NSLP/SBP/After School Snack program.
• Assist in preparing food according to planned menus and ensure acceptable appearance and flavor.
• Conduct inventories of food and supplies.
• Oversee daily cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria and equipment; report equipment breakdowns.
• Supervise closing of computers and storage areas; ensure security.
• Report accidents or problems to the Food Service Director.
• Collaborate with building Principal on food service program activities.
• Perform other duties to support the district mission.

Position Title:

Nutrition Services Assistant Manager

Reports To

Nutrition Services Director

Purpose

This position is responsible for the preparation and serving of food to students and/or cashiering during breakfast and lunch shifts. This position is a full time position (35-40 hours week) and requires a dress code.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties

• Perform the duties assigned by the Food Services Director in an efficient manner.
• Maintain a high quality of safety and cleanliness in all aspects of the kitchen and dining area to comply with city, county and state health codes.
• Assign and supervise work of food service staff in kitchen manger’s absence.
• Attend manager meetings as scheduled by Food Services Director.
• Verify and sign invoices of food shipments.
• Properly store all food and supplies upon delivery.
• Assist kitchen manager to determine the quantity of food to be prepared each day and ensure proper serving sizes to meet the necessary requirements of the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and After School Snack Program.
• Assist and prepare food according to planned menus and determine if finished product is acceptable in appearance and flavor before serving.
• Assist kitchen manager to conduct inventories of food and supplies.
• Assist the kitchen manager in planning, directing and supervising the daily cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria and equipment and report to Food Service Director any break downs of equipment.
• Oversee the closing of computers and locking of milk boxes, store room and kitchen.
• Report any accidents or problems to the Food Service Director.
• Cooperate with building Principal in conducting the food service program and related activities.
• Perform other appropriate duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Jefferson City School District.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Experience in the preparation of a wide variety of food on a quantity basis.
• Competency for assigned responsibilities with previous personnel supervision preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and cater miscellaneous school events.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
