Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing of all alternative income forms and aid in correspondence with parents and staff.
  • Perform clerical work essential to Nutrition Services operations (typing letters, records, lists, labels, reports, inventory, requisitions).
  • Assist with development and implementation of lunch and snack menus.
  • Maintain schedule for site observations and observation records.
  • Assist with in-service training for nutrition services staff.
  • Assist with food production worksheets and inventory.
  • Maintain records for Nutrition Program (Migrants, ASES, Cal-Works).
  • Assist in handling and accounting for all monies, lunches, and labor hours for food service staff.
  • Participate in interviews for nutrition services positions.
  • Help students and parents in Nutrition office.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate office equipment.
  • Comply with cleanliness standards, health and dress codes.
  • Be courteous and confidential.
  • Communicate effectively; establish cooperative relationships; prepare reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

JOB TITLE: Nutrition Services Assistant
JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services, assist with all school site nutrition services programs to fulfil the nutritional and educational goals of the district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • 195 work days per year
  • 3.5 hours per day, five (5) days per week, according to current school schedule
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of
  • Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish)
  • Current nutrition services trends and operations
  • Current food production technology
  • Basic arithmetic concepts
  • Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in public education nutrition service or industrial food service
  • Education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
  • Assists with the processing of all alternative income forms and aid in the correspondence with parents and staff
  • Assists with a variety of clerical work essential to the operation of the Nutrition Services Program including, but not limited to, typing of letters, records, lists, labels, reports, inventory, supply lists, requisitions, and other miscellaneous materials.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of lunch and snack menus
  • Maintain the schedule for routine site observations and maintain observation records
  • Assist with in-service training for nutrition services staff
  • Assist with food production worksheets and inventory
  • Assists with the keeping of records for the Nutrition Program including Migrant, ASES Program and Cal-Works
  • Assists in the handling and accounting for all monies, lunches, and labor hours for the food service staff
  • Participate in interviews for nutrition services positions
  • Helps students and parents as they come into the Nutrition office
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment
  • Comply with appropriate cleanliness standards, health and dress codes
  • Must be courteous and confidential

General:

  • Effectively communicate in both oral and written form.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written direction

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with district staff, parents and students

  • Prepare reports as needed for the Director of Nutrition Services
  • Maintain professionaldemeanor and confidentiality
  • Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of the job description are the following essential physical requirements:

  • 40% Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations
  • 20% Ability to see for purposes of reading text
  • 15% Ability to hear at normal speaking levels
  • 15% Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
