Montebello Unified School District is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant I (As-Needed) to support daily food service operations at district nutrition centers. You will help with basic food preparation, serving meals, cashiering and sanitation to ensure clean, healthy environments for students and staff.
The role involves setting up serving areas, monitoring portion sizes, assisting with inventory, and maintaining accurate meal counts and temperatures in accordance with state regulations.

Under supervision, performs basic food preparation and food service duties in support of nutrition center activities, including setting up serving areas, assisting with routine food preparation, serving food, cashiering, washing dishes and cleaning and sanitizing the nutrition center; and performs related duties as assigned.
A Nutrition Services Assistant I(As-Needed) same functions as a permanent Nutrition Services Assistant I on a temporary basis only in the absence of a permanent incumbent. The as-needed assignment will end upon the return to duty of the permanent Nutrition Services Assistant I employee. Placement in the as-needed pool for this classification has no end date. However, an employee of the District assigned to the as-needed pool for this classification may certify out his/her test scores for placement on an eligibility list for a permanent position in accordance with Merit system provisions of the State Education Code. The Nutrition Services Assistant I(As-Needed) will remain at the first step of the appropriate salary schedule.
Nutrition Services Assistants I perform basic duties to assist in the daily activities of nutrition centers, performing routine food service and preparation and cleaning duties. Incumbents are responsible for ensuring nutrition centers are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, setting up serving areas and measuring food portions to ensure each child receives a balanced, healthy meal.
§ Nutrition Services Assistant I is distinguished from Nutrition Services Assistant II in that incumbents in the latter class assist with food production and use heavy kitchen equipment on a regular, consistent basis.
