Position Summary

The Nutrition Educator will provide telephonic nutrition education to members/patients with chronic conditions as they learn to select, prepare, and eat foods appropriate for their condition(s) as they participate in a chronic care meals program. Chronic conditions can include, but are not limited to diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. Utilizing a member/patient-centric approach, the nutrition educator will collaborate with the member/patient to explore nutrition-related issues and topics that are most important to them. The educator will also connect members/patients to other nutrition and condition resources available from the health plan, system, or in their community.

Salary range: $55,388-72,000 plus bonus; one opening posted in multiple locations for licensure needs.

Position Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To:

1. Provide telephonic nutrition education sessions per member/patient; the number of sessions varies based on the program.
2. Document goals and care plans from education sessions in the platform.
3. Schedule follow-up calls with each member/patient.
4. Develop nutrition education handouts and tools as needed.
5. Identify community resources for clients as needed.
6. Maintain and update professional knowledge through educational opportunities, reading publications, and participating in professional organizations.
7. Perform other nutrition-related tasks as needed.

Required Skills And Experience:

1. Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science or Dietetics.
2. Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
3. 2+ years’ experience providing nutrition education or counseling.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
6. Proficiency with standard office equipment like laptops and smartphones.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Ability to make clinical decisions regarding nutrition education appropriateness.

Preferred Skills And Experience:

1. Active licensure in District of Columbia or Ohio.
2. Experience in telephonic nutritional education or counseling.
3. Training in health coaching, motivational interviewing, and mindful eating frameworks.

Physical Requirements:

1. Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers.
2. Sedentary work involving sitting for prolonged periods.
3. Visual perception abilities including peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
