Job summary

The University of the District of Columbia invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Nutrition and Dietetics within CAUSES to advance teaching, research, and service aimed at improving nutritional status in diverse communities.

The position requires coordinating the Graduate Program Clerkship, developing evidence-based curricula, publishing in peer‑reviewed journals, building a national research agenda, and mentoring students through capstone projects and theses.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Health Science, Public Health, Organizational Leadership, or related area.
• Active status as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed by the CDR.
• Licensure as a dietitian in the United States with ability to obtain licensure in DC within one year.
• Three years of professional practice experience in medical nutrition therapy, community/public health nutrition, and/or food systems.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated record of teaching, research, program planning and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in medical nutrition therapy, community/public health nutrition, nutrition assessment, counseling, and food/nutrition security.
• Coordinate the Graduate Program Clerkship, manage contracts and affiliations, organize student placements and evaluations.
• Publish peer‑reviewed articles in nutrition and dietetics.
• Initiate and sustain a nationally recognized, innovative research agenda.
• Engage students in research and community-oriented activities.
• Plan and implement leadership development opportunities for students; advise on capstone/thesis work.
