## Position Summary:The Clinical Care Nutrition Service at Colorado State University’s Veterinary Health System provides consultations, manages in-person and virtual appointments, and collaborates with various hospital services. In addition, this service educates veterinary students, technicians, interns, and residents on nutritional management for dogs and cats. The Nutrition Clinical Coordinator position will support setting and maintaining consultations (virtual & in-person) for nutritional support, manage a client base nationally, and assist in the veterinary residency program. This role is the primary administrative support for the Nutrition Service which includes supporting a board-certified veterinary nutritionist and residents. The coordinator provides oversight and management of referral cases, client communication, and medical record management. This position will also oversee inventory management, product selection, stock of the hospital’s small animal veterinary food room to align with hospital needs and patient care. The coordinator will be responsible for supervising student hourly employees who assist with the veterinary food room (organizing, stocking, and cleaning) and provide feedback on their performance. The role involves collaboration with various hospital services and requires exceptional organization and communication skills. Our deep partnership with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences amplifies our impact, enabling us to boldly innovate and share knowledge widely.## ## Essential Duties:* Clinical Patient Care & Triage: This position must demonstrate a strong understanding or a willingness to learn about veterinary nutrition and the risks of malnutrition. This knowledge aids in promptly identifying patients requiring assistance and determining the need for urgent nutrition appointments.* Service Coordination & Communication: Manage all administrative communications, including responding to clients and referring veterinarians, providing visit information, coordinating records, handling prescription refills, and facilitating financial estimates, consents, and appointment reminders.* Manage all voicemail and email communication ensuring timely and accurate distribution of information.* Client Care & Experience: Provide client support through education, communication, grief protocol assistance, and facilitation of client and patient support during in-person and virtual appointments.* Food Room & Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory, product selection, organization and stocking of the hospital food room to align with hospital needs and patient care. Make critical decision regarding budget allocation for food and supply purchases as well as communicating and maintaining relationships with vendors.* Patient Handling & Diagnostics: This position will have interactions with patients though the majority of the consultations are virtual. This role will perform proper patient restraint and blood sample handling.* Teaching, Mentorship & Training: This role serves as a point of contact for students and employees on current nutritional management strategies for common clinical conditions as well as veterinary diets available. ## Conditions of Employment:* Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).* Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.* Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. ## Supervisory:Student Hourly positions - .5 FTE total. ## Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience (substitutions: associates degree + 3 years veterinary experience, or High School Diploma/GED + 5 years of veterinary experience). ## Preferred Qualifications:* A collaborative communicator and mentor with robust organizational skills, adept at partnering with various hospital services, employees, and students to achieve common goals.* Proven self-starter with the ability to work autonomously, anticipate service needs, manage competing priorities independently, and drive projects to completion.* Experience working in customer service, veterinary, and/or healthcare industry.* Proficiency across the Microsoft 365 Suite, with demonstrated experience using Excel for data tracking and reporting, Word for creating client-facing documentation or training materials, and Outlook/Teams for high-volume professional communication.* Experience with electronic medical record systems.* Advanced knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, advanced clinical procedures, and emerging triage protocols is highly preferred. Candidates who do not currently possess this level of expertise must demonstrate a strong willingness and aptitude to learn and master these concepts upon hire.
