Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan seeks a Nutrition Care Technician to support nutrition services, including menu guidance, formula preparation, labeling, and allergy documentation. Qualifications

  • One year of diet office experience or nine credits in Nutrition related college coursework.
  • Must be able to pass the Nutrition Care Exam with a score of 90% or above within one month of training.
  • Prefer completion of 2 year associates degree program for Dietetic Technician or a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics.
  • After completing the degree and dietetics coursework, pass a Dietetic Technician national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in selecting their menu according to their diet restrictions.
  • Take formula orders and write formula recipes compliant with orders under the dietitian's guidance.
  • Update and print formula labels; delegate and review diet changes and room service updates as needed with allergy information.
  • Visit new patients to confirm allergies and document as needed; perform weekly inventory in the formula room.
  • Assist with scheduling Nutrition Services Clerks and Formula Room Dietary Aide positions.
  • Review clerical processing of dietary information and adhere to hospital policies.

Education

Associate degree in Dietetic Technician OR Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
Pass Nutrition Care Exam with 90%+ within 1 month of training

Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered dietitian, functions as a resource person to Nutrition Services Clerks and Dietary Aides. Provides input into performance reviews of nutrition service clerks and dietary aides who cover in the formula room.

Works as a Nutrition Services Clerk assisting patients to select their menu according to their diet restrictions. Takes formula orders. Writes formula recipes compliant with formula orders under the guidance of the dietitian. Updates and prints formula labels.

As needed, uses recipes to prepare formulas. Delegates and assures review of diet changes and updates room service program as needed with preferences and allergy information.

Visits new patients with allergies to confirm allergies and document as needed. Completes weekly inventory in the formula room. Assists with scheduling the Nutrition Services Clerks and Formula Room Dietary Aide positions.

Reviews the clerical processing of dietary information, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, and objectives and performs other duties as assigned.
