This position handles staff and visitor meal requests in a cafeteria and/or catering setting. Responsibilities include good communication skills, listening to customer orders, preparing food as requested, cash handling, cleaning, and stocking work stations. This role does not involve direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional customer service, respond to questions, and resolve complaints.
  2. Ensure quality food service at various stations, preparing and serving as ordered.
  3. Maintain stock levels and ensure menu items are complete and timely.
  4. Prepare meals at various stations including grill, deli, salad bar, and beverage areas.
  5. Document waste, received items, and cleaning activities.
  6. Restock and clean work areas regularly.
  7. Follow food safety protocols and sanitation standards.
  8. Handle cash transactions properly.
  9. Assist during events and banquets, including setup, service, and cleanup.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  1. Ability to perform essential job functions.
  2. Basic math and computer skills.
  3. Effective communication and human relations skills.
  4. Ability to handle customer issues, cash handling, and stocking independently.
  5. Coordinate activities with minimal supervision.
  6. Manage customer requests and escalate when necessary.
  7. Adhere to attendance policies.
  8. Follow detailed instructions accurately.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position.
  • Must obtain a food service worker's permit within one month of hire.

Licenses Required

  • Utah Food Handler Permit or Food Protection Manager certification (ANSI accredited), or other relevant licenses as determined by the department.

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Work involves lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and exposure to chemicals and equipment hazards.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sharp equipment is possible.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, and handle physical demands with or without accommodations.

Physical Requirements
