Job summary

Reasons Eating Disorder Center is seeking a Nutrition Assistant on a per diem basis to work closely with a Registered Dietitian at residential facilities in Pasadena and Arcadia. You will assist with meal planning, food preparation, and nutrition-related group activities in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring meal plans, shopping for groceries, and ensuring kitchen sanitation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or enrollment in accredited Dietetics/Dietetic Technician program.
• Experience with eating disorders preferred; food service experience adds value.
• Must be available to work weekends and overtime as needed.

• Work with Registered Dietitian to meet resident nutritional needs.
• Plan and prepare resident meals.
• Provide baking, cooking and nutrition-related groups.
• Plan and participate in restaurant outings and delivery for some meals.
• Monitor and order food and supplies.
• Check food logs/diaries to ensure meals follow plan.
• Enforce sanitation and kitchen safety protocols.
• Maintain emergency food supply and protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support recovery.

Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Reasons) is seeking nutrition students, dietetics technicians, or equivalent certification interested in working closely with a Registered Dietitian and gaining first‑hand experience working with patients recovering from eating disorders. Candidates with previous experience working with eating disorders, trauma, substance use and LGBTQIA+ communities are preferred, but not required, to join our team providing compassionate care at our tranquil residential treatment facilities located residential treatment centers in the Pasadena and Arcadia neighborhoods of the Los Angeles area.

Job Description: Nutrition Assistant works closely with the Registered Dietitian in monitoring and maintaining the dietary program. The Nutrition Assistant performs essential duties associated with meal plans, resident information related to meal patterns, and safety pertaining to the nutritional care and food service of all residents. Additional duties include grocery shopping, cooking meals, eating at restaurants with patients, and cleaning duties to ensure proper sanitation practices.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Work with Registered Dietitian in ensuring resident nutritional needs.
• Plan and prepare resident meals.
• Provide baking, cooking and nutrition-related groups
• Plan and participate in restaurant outings and delivery for some meals
• Monitor and order food and supplies.
• Check food logs/diaries daily to ensure patients are following meal plans provided by Registered Dietitian
• Implement and monitor sanitation and kitchen safety protocols.
• Maintain and monitor emergency food supply; ensure protocols are followed.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to have an impact on people’s eating disorder recovery

Qualifications

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or currently enrolled in an accredited Dietetics, a Dietetic Technician program, or equivalent certification.

Experience:

• Knowledge and experience in the field of eating disorders treatment preferred. Food service or related experience preferred.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
• Must be available to work weekends.
