Job summary

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) seeks a qualified professional to implement the Nutrient Management Program in the Tappahannock area by preparing Certified Nutrient Management Plans and conducting surveys of plan implementation.

The role includes reviewing plans for regulatory and incentive programs and providing educational outreach to reduce nutrients entering water bodies. DCR offers comprehensive state benefits and PSLF eligibility.

Qualifications

• Training and experience in Agronomy, Crop and Soil Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Science, or related fields.
• Ability to plan effectively and perform duties with minimum supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds.
• Experience reporting data and preparing written reports.
• Experience with MS Office suite for word processing, presentations, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Implement Virginia’s Nutrient Management Program in the assigned service area by preparing Certified Nutrient Management Plans.
• Conduct surveys to verify the implementation of Nutrient Management Plans.
• Perform reviews of Nutrient Management Plans for regulatory and incentive programs.
• Provide or assist with educational programs to reduce nutrient runoff into ground and surface waters.
