Union County Community Action, Inc. in Hamlet, NC, is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher for the Infant & Toddler Classroom to work with 1- and 2-year-olds in nurturing, developmentally appropriate activities. Schedule is Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm, 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Infant/Toddler CDA credential preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing care and supervision for infants and toddlers.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities and routines.
• Develop secure, responsive relationships with children.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Observe and assess children’s developmental progress.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s growth and daily activities.
• Conduct parent conferences and home visits as required.
• Collaborate with classroom staff and support specialists.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.
