Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Nursing Supervisor to administer and manage services in all assigned nursing units, collaborating with Administration and Nurse Managers to coordinate patient care and efficient use of resources.

This role leads staffing decisions, oversees unit operations, participates in quality improvement activities, guides staff during emergencies, and ensures confidentiality of patient and employee information. Schedule: Full-time, 7:00am–7:30pm; On Call: No.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing (required)
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan (required)
• A minimum of 2 years’ nursing-related experience (required)

Responsibilities

• Supervise the nursing care of the medical center and inform appropriate administrators of unusual events.
• Oversee staffing within the Medical Center to meet patient care needs.
• Evaluate nursing personnel needs and plan overtime or agency staffing.
• Participate in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement.
• Assist in planning and implementation of departmental policies.
• Visit nursing units to oversee care, assess operations, and validate bed status.
• Advise nursing staff on medications or treatments during emergencies.
• Make judgments on patient placement and inter-unit transfers.
• Assign patients to units based on illness, clinical necessity and staffing.
• Monitor throughput indicators and contribute to improvement strategies.
• Lead performance improvement activities related to throughput.
• Assist in evaluating employees.
• Assist Employee Health by evaluating Fitness for Duty and exposures.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patients, employees, and physician information.
• Performs related duties as required.
