Job summary

Saint Peter's Healthcare System is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary Part Time for Metabolic Unit 1G. The role serves as the central focus of communication for the patient-care unit and coordinates clerical functions, charting, admissions and discharges to promote an orderly workflow.

The position requires the ability to read and transcribe physician orders, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of hospital personnel, patients and visitors.
• Good communication/phone skills required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills essential.
• Read and transcribe physician orders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the central focus of communication for the Patient-C Care Unit.
• Coordinate the clerical functions of the Unit—assisting with charting, admissions and discharges, etc.
• Maintain organization within Nurse's station to promote an orderly workflow.
• Receive, sort, and organize all interdepartmental communications.
• Schedule and coordinate special patient appointments with other departments as directed by Health Care Team Members within an appropriate amount of time.
• Answer high volume of phone calls and assist as appropriate.
• Welcome and assist all visitors to the unit.

The Nursing Unit Secretary Part Time will:

• Serve as the central focus of communication for the Patient-Care Unit

• Maintain organization within Nurse's station to promote an orderly workflow
• Receive, sort, and organize all interdepartmental communications
• Schedule and coordinate special patient appointments with other departments as directed by Health Care Team Members within an appropriate amount of time
• Answer call bells and assisting as appropriate Answer a high volume of phone calls
• Welcome and assist all visitors to the unit

Requirements

• Work requires the ability to read and transcribe Physician orders.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills essential.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of Hospital personnel, patients and visitors.
• Good communication/phone skills required.

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
