Job summary

Saint Peter's Health System is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary for the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit to provide essential clerical support in the evenings. You will serve as the central point of contact for the unit, coordinate charting, admissions, and discharges, and maintain an orderly nurse's station to ensure smooth workflow.

The role requires strong medical terminology knowledge, computer skills, and excellent communication with staff, patients, and visitors.

Qualifications

• Read and transcribe physician orders.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse hospital staff and visitors.
• Good communication and phone skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the central focus of communication for the patient-care unit.
• Coordinate clerical functions including charting, admissions and discharges.
• Maintain organization in the nurse's station to promote orderly workflow.
• Receive, sort, and organize interdepartmental communications.
• Schedule and coordinate special patient appointments with other departments.
• Answer a high volume of phone calls and assist as appropriate.
• Welcome and assist all visitors to the unit.
