Job summary

Brown University Health in Newport, RI is seeking a Nursing Unit Clerk to support the nursing team on the unit. Under the Nursing Director, you will handle clerical and administrative tasks and assist nursing personnel and medical staff to maintain an optimal unit environment.

You will interact with patients, document in systems, and ensure accurate records, safety checks, and timely transfers while following hospital policies and values. Evening shift, 8 hours per shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and data entry skills are required.
• Clerical experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to operate current computer systems on the nursing unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical and administrative duties on the nursing unit.
• Records and types unit council minutes and maintains patient records.
• Ensures safety checks and posts diet and NPO restrictions on lab work.
• Keeps census up-to-date and facilitates transfer of medical records.
• Demonstrates competent use of unit-specific equipment and communicates with staff.
