Job summary

North Central Missouri College is seeking professional nursing tutors to support students in nursing courses. Tutors provide one-to-one and small group tutoring in the Resource Center, lab, classroom, or virtually, helping students assess learning needs and set goals.

The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong knowledge of PN and ADN curricula, and the ability to explain concepts clearly while fostering independent learning.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of PN and ADN curriculum with tutoring experience preferred.
• Must have a strong knowledge of the subject tutored and strong verbal and written communication.
• Active listening and approachable demeanor; strong interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend tutor training workshops and tutoring activities, including nursing-specific sessions.
• Conduct small-group or one-to-one tutoring sessions.
• Help students develop positive study habits and skills.
• Assist students with projects and prepare for quizzes and tests.
• Explain concepts clearly and ask questions that encourage independent thinking.
• Encourage students to complete homework assignments.
• Log tutoring sessions and maintain records.
• Be punctual and maintain communication with the Resource Center Coordinator and staff.
• Proctor course level tests under supervision of testing staff.
• Exhibit respect and support for all students and NCMC faculty.
• Move about campuses as needed for tutoring duties.
