Qualifications

• Nurse Aide Certification required by NC DHHR.
• BLS CPR certification from ARC or AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with daily living tasks and progressive mobility to aid recovery.
• Assesses nutrition, hydration, and elimination to anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients to align with care plans.
• Assists with clinical procedures: monitor glucose, vital signs, EKGs, and elimination needs.
• Maintains unit inventories to ensure a clean, safe environment per safety goals.
• Verifies fall-risk patients have arm bands and signage for safety.
• Documents procedures, interactions, and medication use to maintain patient history.
• Responds to RN delegation and communicates observations to the team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
