Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Technician for the Medical-Surgical Acute 5I unit to support patient care during the night shift. You will perform ADLs, monitor vital signs, assist with procedures, and transport and assist with specimens under RN direction.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work in a high-stress environment. A high school diploma or GED is required; BLS certification is required on hire or within 180 days.

City/State: White Plains, New York Department: Medical_Surgical Acute 5I Work Shift: Night Work Days: MON-FRI, ALTERNATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS Scheduled Hours: 6PM - 6AM Hours Per Pay Period: 75 Pay Rate/Range: $25.00 -$37.50 For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Job Summary The Nursing Technician performs patient care and non-patient care functions within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Duties include but are not limited to ADL's, vital signs, I&O, performing EKGs, documentation of vital signs and I & O, simple dressing changes, specimen collection, assisting with meals, errands, transporting of patients, medications, or specimens, ambulating of patients, urinary drainage care (indwelling, external and suprapubic), assists with colostomy care, applies binders, weighs patients, assists health care providers with procedures and physical exams, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

8. Completes competency requirements.
9. Attends mandatory in-services.
10. Attends staff meetings as required/ requested.
11. Utilizes cost containment practices.
12. Adheres to all WPH policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
13. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Required or GED Required less than 1 year
• Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred
• Preferred Nursing Technicians that will be trained to read the monitors require the 4-day EKG class Required
