Summary

Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent will oversee the nursing staff to provide professional nursing care for residents in a long-term care facility, in accordance with company policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and monitor daily activities of nursing staff.
  2. Ensure consistent application of policies; participate in coaching and counseling staff as needed.
  3. Develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures for the Nursing Services Department.
  4. Perform administrative duties such as performance evaluations, scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
  5. Participate in direct resident care when necessary.
  6. Attend committee meetings as required.
  7. Act as Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, or MDS Coordinator in their absence.
  8. Assist in in-service training for nursing staff.
  9. Participate in inspections by authorized agencies.
  10. Maintain a safe work environment, practice infection control, and demonstrate disaster preparedness fundamentals.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information.
  12. Conduct rounds to ensure safe and appropriate care, intervening as needed.
  13. Coordinate and complete resident admission processes.
  14. Support investigations related to staff or resident incidents, complying with regulations.
  15. Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a geriatric environment.
  • CPR certified.
  • Current RN license; BSN preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, follow directions, and handle difficult situations with tact and patience.
  • Good handwriting, telephone, and filing skills.
Physical & Working Conditions

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, talk, and hear. Frequently sit, reach, and stoop. Occasionally climb or balance. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently. The environment involves exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and emotionally upset residents and families. Willing to work beyond normal hours as needed.

Benefits

Pay grade: 15, $35.70/hr to $57.20/hr, with shift differentials available. Benefits include PTO, retirement, education assistance, EAP, wellness programs, and more, with additional benefits for part-time and full-time employees.
