Job summary

Masonicare at Bishop Wicke in Shelton, CT is seeking a per diem Nursing Supervisor under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing to uphold established standards of nursing practice and to provide leadership in continuing care.

You will collaborate with Clinical Nurse Managers to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of care, supervise staff, allocate nursing personnel, and communicate effectively with the team.

Qualifications

• RN license in Connecticut and CPR certification required.
• BS in nursing or related field.
• 1–2 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Graduate of school of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain departmental policies, procedures and objectives to ensure nursing practice standards are met.
• Uphold the nursing program during off shifts through allocation and supervision of staff.
• Provide care based on patient age and needs and interact with staff, physicians, patients and families to deliver care.
• Communicate effectively to staff through reports and documentation and attend meetings.
• Participate in educational programs and mandatory in-service training.
• Attend education programs and meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing, has the authority and responsibility for carrying out established standards of practices and care and providing direction in the continuing provision of nursing services. Works in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Managers to take all reasonable steps to insure that the quality, safety and appropriateness of care are assured.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives to ensure that the standards of nursing practice are consistently met throughout the Masonicare AT BISHOP WICKE (MBW) facility.
• Upholds the nursing program during the off shift through the allocation of nursing personnel, coordination of nursing activities, supervision of nursing staff and serves as a clinical resource to all staff.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skill to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to age, needs and abilities of the resident/patient in his/her assigned unit. Interacts professionally with staff, physicians, patients and families to ensure that care is effectively and efficiently delivered.
• Communicates effectively to all staff through verbal reports and written documentation and attends necessary administrative meetings to disseminate important information to off shift staff.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs both in and out of the facility.
• Attends all education programs, mandatory in servicing and meeting.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing, BS in nursing or healthcare related field.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registration and current RN license in the State of Connecticut; CPR certification
