Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess staffing needs on nursing units and provide appropriate staff.
- Serve as a resource for clinical issues and patient-care problems.
- Maintain high visibility on nursing units to reinforce role model status.
- Collaborate with physicians and the Admitting Department to determine patient placement based on nursing care requirements.
- Represent hospital administration to resolve hospital-wide, department-wide issues during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Act as a liaison between nursing and other departments to facilitate smooth patient-care activities.
- Provide feedback to directors and nurse managers about staff, patient care, and administrative issues on off-shifts, and participate in follow-up as needed.
- Assist nursing staff in patient care as necessary.
- Help staff interpret and observe nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide informal teaching to nursing staff.
- Participate in professional meetings, hospital committees, organizations, or research activities to support professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- M.S.N. with management experience and/or clinical specialist training.
- Current nursing licensure from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- At least three years of progressive nursing experience, preferably including supervisory roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform strenuous activities as needed.
- Vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 is required by Beth Israel Lahey Health.
