Job summary

Valley Health is seeking an experienced RN to oversee patient care delivery on assigned shifts within our Medical/Surgical department. You will lead rounds, collaborate with staff, and coach teams to improve clinical outcomes while ensuring policy compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years of acute care nursing with leadership responsibilities, a current RN license (West Virginia) and BLS; PEARS or PALS within 120 days, and AHA certification prior to orientation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required or plan to complete within 3 years of hire date.
• 3–5 years of experience in acute care nursing with leadership responsibilities.
• RN Nursing License (West Virginia) required; BLS certification required; PEARS or PALS within 120 days of hire; new-hire orientation requires AHA certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient care delivery during assigned shifts.
• Make rounds to nursing units and support departments; collaborate to resolve clinical and staffing issues.
• Coach/mentor staff to improve outcomes and ensure compliance with VH policies; act as patient advocate and communicate with leaders as needed.

Job Description

This position is accountable for oversight of patient care delivery during assigned shifts. This RN makes rounds to the nursing units and support departments, collaborates with staff to solve clinical and staffing issues, addresses and documents practice variations and staff non-compliance to all VH policies. Nursing metrics are assessed and staff coached/mentored to improve outcomes when deficits are identified. This RN also serves as a patient advocate, communicates with support departments as appropriate to resolve issues. This RN supervises operations of all departments in the absence of the Department supervisor. Following the chain of command, communicates appropriate issues to AOC, Hospital Leadership, and Ancillary Departments. This is a safety sensitive position.

Education

Bachelors degree in Nursing is preferred or plan to complete within 3 years of hire date. Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

3 to 5 years of experience in acute care nursing preferred with appropriate leadership responsibilities.

Certification & Licensures

RN Nursing License - West Virginia required. BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ’Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation. PEARS or PALS required within 120 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development. Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served.
