Overview

Description

The Nursing Supervisor, Physician Practice, provides leadership, supervision and support to clinical team members in a physician practice in the provision of clinical/care support services in a professional manner and acts as a resource and role model for staff. Coordinates patient care activities of clinical staff and expedites work flow.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor clinical staff, primarily medical assistants, in a physician practice setting. Assists practice and physician network leadership with hiring and performance management duties.
  • Organize and lead continuous improvement efforts to improve clinical flow, care outcomes, and quality and comfort of work efforts. Prepares documentation including processes, policies and procedures as needed.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and development for clinical and support staff.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues or unusual teaching needs.
  • Maintains work environment and supplies. Coordinates material orders, verifying receipt of ordered goods, distributing and maintaining par inventories. Ensures disposal and replacement of expired materials.
  • Updates and maintains records in electronic medical record (EMR) tool, including resolution of errors or difficult recordkeeping as needed. Ensures quality of data input by clinical staff.
  • Assists the provider(s) with direct patient care as needed, including preparing patients for exams and competently performing procedures as directed by the provider.
Job Specifications

Required

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states by the first day of clinical care.
  • One (1) year of prior leadership experience
  • One (1) year of practice performing clinical care relevant or similar to practice focus
  • Experience working an electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

Preferred

  • Prior leadership experience in a clinical setting
  • Three (3) years of practice performing clinical care relevant or similar to practice focus
  • Experience practicing in a Registered Nurse role in a clinical setting relevant or similar to practice focus
  • Experience working in EPIC
  • Experience in ambulatory care setting
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
