Carleton-Willard Village is a retirement community located in Bedford, MA. Services include supportive care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care all in a village-type setting. Our 72 acre sanctuary of pristine woods, meadows, walking paths and gardens is just north of Boston.
Job Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor directs, administers, and supervises nursing and related activities of all licensed units to assure optimum care of all Residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifies and evaluates nursing service needs.
- Analyzes and coordinates interdepartmental needs of the Residents and nursing staff.
- Evaluates emergencies and determines measures to be taken.
- Makes rounds to each unit daily, and as necessary, to read log, receive report, and to assess unstable patients.
- Keeps Director of Nursing Services apprised of pertinent information. Makes report to oncoming supervisor.
- Consults with family members as necessary to maintain good relationships and communication.
- Assists with orientation and staff education as needed.
- Supervises the maintenance of accurate records.
- Engages in studies related to improving Resident care.
- Evaluates work performance and assists with preparation of progress reviews.
- Supervises and insures the proper and economical use of equipment and supplies.
- Participates in staff meetings and supervisory staff meetings.
- Investigates complaints. Keeps Director of Nursing Services apprised of current problems.
- Assists in preparation and development of new procedures.
- Evaluates assignments of staff to provide adequate coverage of facility at all times. Reallocates staff as necessary.
- Directs the adaptation of techniques for the resolution of unusual or complex nursing problems.
- Serves as liaison for multidisciplinary team members. Confers with physicians and others, as necessary, to enhance the quality of care.
- Evaluates Resident and staff safety measures. Insures a safe environment for Residents.
- Interprets administrative policies and regulations to staff members, Residents, and visitors.
- Takes responsibility for scheduling, staffing problems, and replacing absentees.
- Supervises and insures proper signing of certification and recertification of Medicare and Medicaid forms.
Accountabilities:
- Ensures that care is consistent with philosophy as established by the governing board of Carleton-Willard Homes, and by the state regulatory agency, through supervision and coordination of nursing services.
- Assumes responsibility for continuing own professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Work experience, preferably including geriatric or rehabilitative nursing.
- Current Massachusetts licensure.
