Job summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics offers a 10-week Nursing Student Internship for students between their junior and senior years in a 4-year nursing program or entering the last semester of a 2-year program. Interns work with a nurse preceptor to apply classroom knowledge in clinical settings during Summer 2027, May 17 to July end, up to 360 hours.

Opportunities exist in multiple nursing areas; interns receive competitive wages and may shadow nurses.

Qualifications

• Must be between junior and senior year in a 4-year nursing program, or entering the last semester in a 2-year program.
• Completed an acute care clinical rotation.
• School must have an active Clinical Affiliation Agreement with UI Health Care.

Responsibilities

• Work side-by-side with a nurse preceptor to enhance education and clinical skills.
• Shadow nurses in various nursing areas during the internship.
• Interns may stay on in an hourly capacity after the program for area needs.
