Nursing Station Clerk/NSC Trainee - Full Time Evening Shift (12:00 PM - 8:30 PM)
Nursing Station Clerks 1 are assigned to inpatient or outpatient units with daily contact with patients. They greet visitors, answer phones, perform data entry, maintain logs, prepare and update patient charts, fill medication tickets, mail letters, and deliver supplies and records.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and understanding of patient care, responding effectively to patient needs ethically and professionally.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
During the NY HELPS program, this position may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, requiring no examination but meeting minimum qualifications. Temporary appointments may be made, and in May 2024, successful temporary employees may transition to permanent non-competitive status, with a future possibility of converting to competitive status within a year.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Nursing Station Clerk 1.
Provisional Appointment: Requires one year of full-time clerical, secretarial, or patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Candidates must take the next available exam and be reachable on the resulting list.
55b/c Appointment: Must possess a current 55b/c eligibility letter.
Section 70.1 Transfer: Must have one year of permanent service in a qualifying title.
Preferred: Experience in peri-operative environments and with Cerner Power Chart.

Salary range: $36,232 - $38,235 annually, based on experience. Positions may include additional pay such as location pay or shift differentials. Benefits include leave, health plans, and pension.
