Job summary

Chamberlain University in Jacksonville, FL seeks an Academic Support & Simulation Specialist to coach nursing students, design remediation plans, and lead the campus simulation lab. You’ll partner with faculty and leadership to align outcomes with curriculum and NCLEX preparation.

The role combines one‑on‑one coaching, small group tutoring, and hands‑on simulation oversight, with flexible scheduling to support evening/weekend needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Active, unencumbered RN license
  • BLS CPR certification required, ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with students individually and in small groups to assess learning styles, identify strengths, and uncover opportunities for academic development
  • Provide individual or group tutoring to reinforce key concepts
  • Participate in outreach to students with at‑risk referrals
  • Create and implement personalized remediation plans to support academic and professional success
  • Demonstrate current, detailed knowledge of NCLEX‑RN concepts and nursing practice
  • Assist in creating Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops
  • Facilitate simulation-based experiences and lab activities, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, setup and cleanup
  • Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to meet course objectives
  • Staff open lab sessions and oversee practice/remediation of technical nursing skills
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success
  • Document and report student progress toward learning outcomes to academic leadership

Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting nursing students on their journey to success? Join our team as an Academic Support & Simulation Specialist, where you’ll play a critical role in preparing future nurses for both academic achievement and success on the NCLEX-RN exam.

In this role, you’ll partner with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to provide targeted support and individualized coaching for students throughout their program. You’ll work one-on-one and in small groups to assess learning styles, reinforce key concepts, and design personalized remediation plans—helping learners build confidence and clinical competence.

In addition, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the campus simulation lab, supporting a student population of approximately 300–350 learners. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality simulation-based learning experiences that align with curriculum and academic outcomes.

As the sole Specialist on campus, this individual must operate with a high level of independence, organization, and flexibility while partnering closely with faculty and academic leadership.

What You’ll Do:
Student Support & Academic Coaching
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to assess learning styles, identify strengths, and uncover opportunities for academic development
  • Provide individual or group tutoring to reinforce key concepts
  • Participate in outreach to students with at‑risk referrals
  • Create and implement personalized remediation plans to support academic and professional success
NCLEX & Curriculum Support
  • Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX‑RN, as well as current nursing practice, to provide academic support
  • Assist in the creation of Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops
Simulation & Lab Experience
  • Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and lab activities, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, set‑up, and clean‑up
  • Assist in developing and implementing detailed, clinically based scenarios for simulated learning, including the use of high‑fidelity patient simulators
  • Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure students have the opportunity to meet course objectives
  • Staff open lab sessions and provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills, as required by course objectives
Collaboration, Communication & Reporting
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic partners, and staff to support student success
  • Communicate and document (report) students’ academic and co‑curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes to academic leadership (e.g., retention committee)
  • Demonstrate service excellence through friendliness, courtesy, professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to first‑class service for students, team members, and external partners
Additional Responsibilities
  • Comply with all policies and standards
  • Perform other duties as assignedScheduling flexibility required, including evening and weekend hours to support campus and student needs

Experience
  • 2+ years of Bedside Nursing experience required

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Additional Information

_In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $75,000.00 and $80,000.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job‑related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certificates; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
