Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up, reset and take-down of simulated clinical experiences and skills labs; facilitate simulated clinical experiences, including structured debriefings.
  • Conduct ongoing simulation evaluation to ensure clinical currency and adherence to industry standards of best practice; assist the Simulation and Skills Lab Director with interpretation of simulation evaluation data and report compilation.
  • Collaborate with the Simulation and Skills Lab Director and BSN faculty on simulation design and implementation.
  • Oversee open lab skills sessions and provide instruction and support to BSN students.
  • Coordinate lab scheduling requests from faculty and other stakeholders and maintain lab calendar.
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners to recruit, train and retain standardized patients.
  • Obtain and maintain BLS for Healthcare Workers instructor certification and provide training sessions for students as needed.
  • Attend simulation-based in-service training, webinars, seminars and conferences; achieve and maintain basic professional simulation certifications (CHSE, CHSOS).
  • Provide laboratory technical support to faculty as needed and provide laboratory tours to campus community and prospective students.
  • Participate in campus-wide scholarship and service initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Simulation and Skills Lab Director.

Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a 9-month Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator/Debriefer position. Reporting to the Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab Director, this position assists with the execution of activities in the skills and simulation laboratories with specific emphasis on simulation oversight and debriefing facilitation. This is a Staff position with Faculty rank.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Set-up, reset and take-down of simulated clinical experiences and skills labs; facilitate simulated clinical experiences, including structured debriefings.
  • Conduct ongoing simulation evaluation to ensure clinical currency and adherence to industry standards of best practice; assist the Simulation and Skills Lab Director with interpretation of simulation evaluation data and report compilation.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to actively, effectively, and enthusiastically provide nursing education instruction.
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of healthcare simulation hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of simulation planning, implementation, and debriefing.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and campus constituents.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or similar.
Qualifications

Required

  • MSN degree from an accredited university.
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or multistate licensure, Virginia eligible.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical teaching experience.

Preferred

  • Experience and/or certification in healthcare simulation education (CHSE, CHSE-A, CHSOS, and/or CHSOS-A), or the ability to obtain such certification.
