Job summary

Paycom is seeking a compassionate Certified Nurse Aide to provide direct resident care under supervision in our Virginia facility. You will assist with ADLs, monitor health, and support residents' daily comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include reporting changes, recording vital signs as directed, and helping with meals and mobility while maintaining infection control and a respectful, dignified environment for residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current, valid Nurse Aide certification issued by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents, staff, and family.
• Patience and a positive attitude toward the elderly population.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, toileting, positioning and mobility.
• Report changes in condition, skin breakdown, wounds, incidents, or unusual events to supervisor immediately.
• Obtain and record vital signs as directed.
• Prepare residents for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Maintain tidiness and safety in resident rooms, reduce clutter and hazards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Welcome new residents and help with comfortable transitions.
• Engage residents in activities and conversation.
• Attend in-service education and training as directed.

POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for providing direct resident care as defined by the job description and as directed by supervisor.Reports to the Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Evening House Supervisor, Director of Nursing/Director of Resident Health Services, and Administrator.Performs all duties in compliance with established facility policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide care for and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to residents as needed or as directed, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, personal hygiene, toileting, positioning, and mobility; taking all necessary measures to ensure the highest level of comfort, dignity, and safety to the resident at all times.Report any changes in condition, including any evidence of skin breakdown or wounds, incidents, accidents, and unusual events to supervisor immediately.Obtain vital signs and record as directed.Review Daily Assignments at the start of each shift, noting any changes in care or transfer status.Promptly record all care provided, using electronic medical record or paper chart as appropriate.Prepare residents for meals and/or snacks, transporting to and from dining areas as needed. Assist with serving, identify food arrangement for sensory impaired residents, and assist with feeding as needed. Record food and fluid intake for each meal and/or snack as appropriate. Perform after-meal resident care.Maintain tidiness and comfort in resident rooms, reducing clutter and trip/fall hazards.Know, understand, and follow established safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures at all times.Welcome each new resident to help ensure a comfortable transition.Communicate with and engage residents in activities and conversation.Conform to and perform duties in accordance with established facility policies and procedures; Department of Health Professions guidelines, and in compliance with Federal and State regulations governing the operation of Nursing and/or Assisted Living facilities.Attend and/or complete in-service education and training as directed by facility policy, regulation, and/or Supervisor.MARGINAL FUNCTIONSAssist with transporting residents to and from activities, Beauty Shop appointments, and other locations within the facility as needed or as requested.Maintain tidiness and limit clutter in social and dining areas to ensure comfort and safety.Attend departmental and staff meetings and participate in in-service training, committees, or workgroups as needed or as directed.Perform other related duties as assigned or required.QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certifications:High School graduate or equivalent preferred.Current, valid certification as Nurse Aide issued by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.Skills:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, staff, and family members.Must exhibit patience and a positive attitude towards the elderly population and a desire to provide a service to the community.Intuitive, creative thinker.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently (up to 66% of the time spent in performance of duties) and up to 35 pounds occasionally (up to 33% of time spent in performance of duties).Manual dexterity that allows grasping, carrying, and holding equipment and supplies or for resident care as needed to perform tasks.Ability to see, hear, and verbally communicate with residents, visitors, and staff members during performance of duties.DISCLAIMERThe above listing is a brief summary of the nature and scope of duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all tasks and responsibilities of the position described.
